good morning may 22nd22nd May 2010

glen arbor weather is marginal today.  the crystal river water levels are around 35 cfs, not good for canoe use.  kayaks, especially single man kayaks would be best.  paddle out into lake michigan today, hardly any wind.  Enjoy the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park.  Enjoy the Crystal River.  Bring your kids or wife or friend over for a round of miniature golf, some ping pong or a game of chess. The gardens on the course are waking up and the greens are in great shape.  Get over here to the River at 5959 S. Oak Street and enjoy the great outdoors!

Glen Arbor weather has been pretty funky this spring.  The crystal river levels are being greatly affected by sporadic rain.  Canoes are not recommended with current water levels.  Single kayaks are going to draw less water and make for a better paddling experience.  The Sleeping Bear National Park is waking up:  Black morels are pretty much over, but there are plenty of whites out there, especially with the rain yesterday and last night.  Weather in Glen Arbor looks nice and warm this weekend.  The boat ramp is in on Sleeping Bear Bay.  So, come on over to the river and get in a kayak this weekend.  Paddle the lower four miles from our location at 5959 s. oak street and paddle out into Lake Michigan.  (portaging is difficult in three spots)  Then play a little putt putt/miniature golf.  Make some memories on the Crystal River in Glen Arbor.
